I’ve really enjoyed my time using Cardo’s products. Between the PackTalks and Edgephones, they’re built well, they can take hit, they’re easy to use, and the sound is pretty damn crystal clear. They’ve allowed me to giggle a lot as I’ve been coaching my daughter and my sons on motorcycles and ATVs over the last year.
Imagine a 7, 6, and 5-year-old talking through riding for the first time.
But about my only complaint about the Cardos, if I was really pressed for one, is that they’re sorta ugly. They work, don’t get me wrong, and they’re pretty compact. But you wouldn’t call them good-looking, nor do they really work with the design of anyone’s helmets. They sort of just stick out as this gray or black block across your motorcycle helmet’s chin, ruining the lines of whatever design you’ve imparted or purchased.
That, however, isn’t the case with Cardo’s team-up with Roland Sands and the motorcyclists’ RSD company for this limited edition unit. Finally, a PackTalk with some style.

The collaboration is built around Cardo’s PackTalk Pro, which features the brand’s new crash-detection system, twin 45mm JBL speakers, it’s magnetic Air Mount system, an IP67 waterproof design, and all its connectivity solutions which can talk to groups or even those who don’t have a Cardo device. But in addition to all that, you get a pretty sleek exterior that doesn’t resemble a gray or black pimple.
RSD is known for two colors: jet black and gold leaf. And those colors get added to the PackTalk Pro RSD Limited Edition. Only 1,000 units will be made, each getting bespoke packaging, a storage bag, and carrying Roland’s own signature.
According to the man of the hour, “Cardo has consistently set the standard for motorcycle communication technology, and our brands share a similar commitment to ultra-high performance and style. When the opportunity arose to create a limited edition together, we jumped at it,” says Sands, adding, “The PACKTALK PRO is hands down the best communicator on the market today, and we’re proud to be associated with Cardo’s advanced technology and innovation with a product that bears the RSD name.”
Again, only 1,000 of these RSD PackTalk Pros will be made, with them being made available starting this month. As for price, you’ll have to fork over $499 to have one adorn your helmet. That’s about $40 more than the standard PackTalk Pro, but that’s the price of having something that looks good, I guess.
Maybe this will get Cardo to start offering more colorways? I’d be down to create my own Limited Edition model, Cardo. Just call me, I’ve got ideas and they involve the color orange.
